Detailed Nomination

TD Garden’s 30th Anniversary Celebration—its Golden Birthday—redefined the traditional arena milestone as a dynamic, community-driven special event that seamlessly blended accessibility, exclusivity, and world-class hospitality. Designed to honor three decades of history while reinforcing TD Garden’s role at the heart of Boston’s sports and entertainment landscape, the celebration delivered a thoughtfully curated, multi-layered experience worthy of PX Award recognition.

Anchored by a festive Pop-Up Party at The Hub on Causeway, the event welcomed more than 1,000 fans, neighbors, and visitors into an energetic and highly engaging environment. Free and open to the public, the activation featured live music, branded giveaways, themed cupcakes, and interactive photo opportunities that encouraged participation and social sharing. Operating on a first-come, first-served basis, the event generated organic foot traffic and excitement throughout the district, transforming a typical weekday into a vibrant community celebration. The scale of attendance and level of engagement reinforced TD Garden’s role as a central gathering place within Boston.

A defining moment of the event was the $30,000 check presentation to Community Work Services, underscoring TD Garden’s commitment to meaningful local impact. Led by Maura Healey alongside Glen Thornborough, Sheryl McQuade, and Craig Stenning, the moment elevated the celebration beyond festivity into purpose-driven engagement.

Complementing the public activation was a premium, invitation-only VIP experience hosted in Blades & Boards at Banners Kitchen & Tap. Approximately 100 Boston Garden Society members, full time staffers who have worked with the arena since 1995, and sponsorship guests participated in an intimate meet-and-greet with Cam Neely and Bob Sweeney. This exclusive experience delivered rare access and a highly personalized hospitality environment, elevating the overall event through meaningful connection and premium service. Neely and Sweeney also happened to be competitors in the first Bruins game held at the new area in 1995 – Neely having a hat rick and Sweeny serving some penalty minutes. This story was a fun way to pay homage to those who have been part of the thread of the arena – fans, employees and players – for the past three decades.

Extending beyond the in-person experience, TD Garden launched the Golden Birthday Sweepstakes presented by TD Bank, driving significant digital engagement and broadening the celebration’s reach. Thirty winners each received a $300 Garden Gold Gift Card, while three grand prize winners earned once-in-a-lifetime packages including Boston Bruins bench seat tickets, Boston Celtics VIP-level tickets, and floor seats to a 2025–26 concert. The sweepstakes generated more than 1 million impressions, over 25,000 entries, and 10,000+ new opt-ins across email and SMS—demonstrating strong audience growth and sustained fan engagement.

With attendance from every major Boston media outlet, the event achieved extensive earned coverage, amplifying its visibility across the region. By seamlessly integrating large-scale community engagement, premium exclusivity, and innovative digital amplification, TD Garden’s Golden Birthday Celebration set a new benchmark for non-game day events—making it a compelling candidate for the PX Awards.
