Chris Shears is the founding principal of SAR+ Architects, bringing decades of experience leading complex projects locally, across the United States, and internationally. A skilled planner and designer, his work focuses on the planning and design of transformative urban infill and mixed-use developments within downtown environments.
Passionate about shaping vibrant urban places, Chris is dedicated to strengthening the urban fabric through innovative planning, zoning, and design strategies that enhance how people live, work, and interact within cities. For more than three decades, he has collaborated closely with city officials, stakeholders, and community members to expand development opportunities while delivering context-sensitive and economically viable solutions. His expertise in the creative interpretation of zoning ordinances and design standards has helped catalyze more than $2 billion in development throughout downtown Denver and its surrounding neighborhoods, with a particular emphasis on thoughtful and sensitive infill development.
Most recently Chris has been involved in guiding the public policy, planning, urban design and architectural efforts for the River Mile and Ball Arena properties. He is passionate about all efforts associated with the future success of Downtown Denver.
